Pricing and platforms

Is Ages of Conflict Free? What Each Platform Costs

Partly. There is a free demo, the full game costs $6.99 on Steam and itch.io, and the phone versions are free to install with in-app purchases. The prices below are what US storefronts showed on 1 November 2026; they can change, and other regions differ (a UK request to Steam returned £5.89 the same day). We have not tested the full version ourselves; details about it below come from the developer's devlog and store pages.

The developer's own site lists exactly these four storefronts: Steam, itch.io, Google Play and the App Store (JoySpark Games). The developer's mobile privacy policy calls the phone version "a Freemium app". The store pages linked above are the final word on any price.

No demo is offered on the Steam page as of 1 November 2026.

Which one fits you

You only want to see what the game is. Use the browser demo. If it will not start, browser troubleshooting walks through the usual causes.

You want it offline on a PC. The demo download is the free route. The developer said in 2022 that the itch.io version "will remain free and work as a demo for the game". The v1.04 post says custom maps can be saved and shared as image files in the downloadable version, and names no other build.

You want the current game on a PC. Steam and itch.io both list $6.99. The differences are practical rather than financial. The 2023 itch.io post says that download has no Steam Workshop support and no Mac build, and that the purchase includes a Steam key, so a buyer can redeem it on Steam. Workshop scenarios are a Steam feature (Steam page). Those 2023 details may have changed; check the itch.io page before buying.

You want it on a phone. Install from the official store and look at what the in-app purchase unlocks before paying. The developer said at launch that the mobile version "won't have Steam Workshop support" and still recommended the PC version for anyone choosing one.

Price notes

  • Steam's Early Access box carries a developer statement that "There will be price increases as the game nears the end of Early Access". The page gives no date, and the game has been in Early Access since February 2023, so treat it as a caution, not a schedule.
  • On 1 November 2026 neither Steam nor itch.io showed a discount for the game.
  • The developer lists only those four storefronts, and this page links to no other download source.

Cost questions still open

  • Everything the phone in-app purchases unlock, and how the ads behave. The store pages say only that ads and purchases exist.
  • What the free demo includes compared with v4.5.2. Browser demo vs full version covers what is known.
  • We did not buy the full version or play any version for this page; prices and contents come from the store pages and developer posts linked here.
