Ages of Conflict FAQ: Answers From the Developer's Own Pages
The answers below only repeat what the developer's own pages say. Every answer points to the page it came from. Where the developer has not said, the answer says so. We did not buy the full version or play the demo or the apps for these answers; they come only from published pages. Prices are US figures from 1 November 2026. We have not tested the full version ourselves; details about it below come from the developer's devlog and store pages.
Getting the game
Is Ages of Conflict free?
There is a free demo, but the full game is not. Steam and itch.io list the full game at $6.99, and the phone apps are free to install with ads and in-app purchases. Platform-by-platform detail: Is Ages of Conflict free?.
Where do I get the official game?
The developer's site lists four storefronts: Steam, itch.io, Google Play and the App Store (source).
What PC specs does it need?
Steam's minimums for Windows are Windows 10 (64-bit), an Intel Core i5-8250U, 1 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 560, DirectX 10 and 180 MB of space (Steam). No figures are published for the demo or the phone apps.
Does it run on Mac and Linux?
Steam lists Windows, macOS (Big Sur 11 or newer) and Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04). The itch.io page offers Windows and Linux downloads plus an HTML5 version. In 2023 the developer wrote that the itch.io build had no Mac download but that "the Steam version does work on Mac" (post).
Which languages are supported?
Steam lists 16: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Finnish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Latin America), Turkish, Polish, Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Ukrainian, Japanese and Korean. The itch.io page lists the same set apart from European Portuguese. The App Store listing shows English only.
What kind of game it is
Is it a strategy game, and can I play as a country?
The Steam page says "This is not a Strategy Game" and describes watching AI nations. It also says you can "govern world history by controlling nations directly" with tools that edit "borders, terrain, nation stats and AI behaviour". In the 2022 v1.01 post the developer wrote that God Mode "is not intended to be a 'playable mode'". Whether the current game has a way to take one country through a campaign is not stated on either page.
Is it single-player?
Yes: Steam's category list shows Single-player and no multiplayer entry.
How long does a session last?
The itch.io page lists an average session of "About an hour". The page does not say how that figure is produced, so read it as a rough guide.
Does the game use generative AI?
The itch.io page carries the label "No generative AI was used". That is the developer's content disclosure on the page; this site has no further information on how the game was made.
Maps, saving and editing
How many maps are there?
The developer gives no total. itch.io says only "multiple pre-made maps and scenarios".
Can I make my own maps and scenarios?
Yes in the full game: Steam lists "Includes level editor", and the page says you can make "maps and borders as complex as you like". A basic Custom Map Painter has been part of the game since v1.01 (2022). What the free demo's version of it can do has not been confirmed. Browser demo vs full version describes the difference as this site sees it.
Can I save my game?
On Steam the listing shows "Save Anytime" and "Steam Cloud". On phones, saving has been free since v2.4.2 (2023-10-29: "Mobile: Saving games is now available for free"). For the browser demo there is no official statement; in 2022 the developer wrote that browser maps would "only be saved during the current gaming session", and later added saving custom maps as image files to the downloadable version (v1.01, v1.04).
Is there Steam Workshop support?
On Steam, yes ("hundreds of High Quality Scenarios on Steam Workshop" per the store page). The 2023 itch.io post says that download has no Workshop support, and at launch the developer said the same of the mobile version.
Versions and help
What is the latest version?
v4.5.2, posted on itch.io on October 31, 2026 ("Lore Panel & Scenario Groups"); Steam carried the same patch notes on October 29. The itch.io page labels the free download build v1.4.3; whether the browser version is the same version is not confirmed. Full history: Updates.
Is the game finished?
Steam tags it Early Access, with a release date of February 17, 2023. The developer's Early Access note says the period "will end once the game is in a state where it doesn't necessarily 'need' any more updates" and that "There is no concrete date yet, but likely within a year". The note is undated, and the game has been in Early Access since February 2023.
Does it work on Steam Deck?
v3.4.1 (2024-10-21) added "a new official control layout" for Steam Deck, an on-screen keyboard for text fields and automatic 1280 × 800 resolution (post). A Steam Deck Verified rating has not been checked.
Who do I contact about a game bug or a purchase?
For the game, Steam lists contact@joysparkgames.com as the developer's support address. For purchases, use the store where you bought it. See About and Contact for what this site can help with, and browser troubleshooting if the demo will not load. New to the game? How to play covers a first session.
